My Genius Hour Proposal
For my Genius Hour project, I chose to focus on making healthy snacks in hopes to better my overall physical health. I've always had a sweet tooth and feeling the need to have something sugary after every meal is what my friends and family know me for.
Healthy eating has become more prominent in my life since high school. I use to dance six days a week, most of the time going straight after school. It was so easy to go through the drive through to get food or the grocery store to get snacks. But as we know, that is not always the best option. Many sweet snacks in the grocery store contain sugar, chemicals and oh, did i say SUGAR?! Not only is additive sugar in large amounts bad for you, but it can also become addicting. Over the years as I developed more knowledge on living a healthy lifestyle, I still find myself snacking on sweet treats.
As a student, you are constantly on the go and sometimes picking up food is most convenient. For me, I work part-time so I spend most of my time commuting from school to work and I find myself grabbing quick snacks on my way as I'm always in a hurry.
I have challenged myself for the next six weeks and hopefully beyond this project to start baking healthy snacks that I can take with me in order to be more healthy and potentially save more money (thats a plus if you ask me)! In addition, I'm hoping it will save some time for me as I will have them prepped and ready to take with me every morning!
