What a CRAZY week!

This week has been nothing but exciting and new adventures. As a teacher candidate, you are required to complete placement in various schools for a certain duration of the year. I started my first placement on Wednesday and all I can say is WOW! I was nervous going into a school I've never been before, let alone meeting all the children and staff. As soon as I met my associate teacher and the students walked in to start their day, my nerves disappeared. I cannot wait for the upcoming weeks to start mini lessons and begin my official teacher journey!!! In all schools, being a nut free environment is common. Many students have all sorts of peanut and nut allergies that require students to bring food without those ingredients. But it doesn't stop there. A student in my class has a dairy allergy. For most people without allergies, we often take for granted being able to indulge in foods with milk and eggs. In my next blog post I will challenge myself to find a recipe that does no...

Let's get started!

I'll be honest, I've never written a blog before so this whole process is a little nerve wracking for me.  But I think I'm starting to get the hang of it (or at least I hope so). Over the course of this week, I've been thinking about how my Genius Hour project will unfold by the end. Will I have enough time to bake? Will the recipes even turn out? I am the type of person to always have smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day as oppose to three big ones. To begin, I started looking at some cookbooks and recipes online to give me some inspiration. Thankfully, I follow a few athletes and health influencers on soc...

WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

Image
My Genius Hour Blog Hey everyone! My name is Milica (pronounced Melissa) Mrkonjic and I am a first year Consecutive Education (primary/junior) student at Brock University. Ever since I could remember, I've always wanted to become a teacher. This may sound cliche but nothing is more rewarding than having a child get that "light bulb" moment when everything they've been struggling with suddenly clicks. I hope to bring my enthusiasm, passion and kindness to every classroom. I am looking forward to this teaching journey and cannot wait to see what my future holds!  To learn more about me, feel free to check out my "passionate apple" word art below and/or visit my Pinterest  All About Me   page.
